How to Find Us

Bethany has a very special place “across the street” from the church building, our “Recreation Area”.

The recreation area contains a rec. building, lighted walking track, gazebo, picnic tables, outdoor water fountain, and a wonderful state of the art fenced in playground area.

This recreation area has a wonderful building that is perfect for meetings, showers, family gatherings, parties, whatever. This building has a large gathering room, a kitchen complete with a stove, refrigerator & microwave, his & her bathrooms, and a storage area. Out on the huge deck area, there is a grill that can be used along with the building. The rec. building is also where our boy scouts meet on Monday nights. Other civic groups meet here such as a TOPS club, and a Wednesday Morning Playgroup for Mom’s & children. On Tuesday nights, a Younglife group from Graham and Southern Alamance High Schools have their meeting here. We are very happy to provide a place for these young people to meet outside of the school setting.

The building is available for use for church members at no charge, and is available to the community for gatherings to non-church members for a fee. The building is available on a first come first served basis, but as it should be, church or regularly scheduled functions take precedence. If you are interested in reserving this building for an upcoming function, please contact the church office at office@bethanypresbyterian.org.

Our walking track is well lit (lights go out around 9:30 – 10:00 pm), and is approximately 1/6th of a mile long (6 times around = 1 mile). It is a relatively flat track with a gravel type surface, and provides a nice, mostly shaded area to take a safe stroll. The walking track is open to the community and is well used, and well liked. We ask that the track be used for walking only, no bikes or motorized bikes, etc. please. The track also provides a covered outdoor water fountain for walkers.

Our Playground area is only about a year and a half old. It is a state of the art play area that was designed and installed by a group that does play areas at a lot of schools, and recreation departments. Our wishes were for a SAFE playground area where the equipment, and environment are up to date on all safety features available. The surface under the play equipment is called “play cushion” and is a state of the art type of mulch that is helpful in cushioning falls and reducing injuries, etc. The equipment itself is rated to be very safe, and is very low maintenance. The play area is totally enclosed by a fence. A sandbox and sand toys & balls are also available inside the fence as well as a swing for “mommy” to swing in while the children play. This area is also available to the community and has become a well loved and very well used area. All we ask is that you help us keep the play area clean, and that you place the toys back in their receptacles when leaving the area. And MOST importantly, please abide by the age limits set forth on the play equipment! This playground was made possible by our Auction monies, as well as special donations and was a wish come true for the congregation.

Our gazebo has also been a nice addition to the rec. area. The gazebo is lighted and has been used as a concert stage for outdoor concerts, and as a stage for weddings, parties, etc. Use of the gazebo for special occasions should be set up through the church office at office@bethanypresbyterian.org.
